5 minutes with Steve, a Creative Artworker at SMG

What first attracted you to SMG?

I'd seen some of the work they'd done and thought the brands they worked with looked great, but more than this I felt like SMG had a really promising future and I wanted to be a part of it.

What's your favourite thing about SMG so far?

How the company looks after their staff - you can reach out to anyone across the business and have a friendly chat, ask them anything about the company or how to find things and everyone is just really accommodating. I've never worked somewhere quite like this before...

Little things like when the People team sent out a little box on Blue Monday with a biscuit and a tea bag so we could all have a brew on the greyest day of the year, really go a long way and shows that SMG really look after their staff's wellbeing.

How would you describe the culture of SMG as a new starter?

Despite joining during lockdown and only working remotely, the sense of company culture is so strong - from beer o'clock on Fridays to different initiatives that are run weekly and monthly, it's been so nice to feel like part of the team despite only meeting a few people physically.

Which SMG value would you say is your favourite and why?

Stay Hungry - because there's a lot you can learn and take upon yourself to learn as well, whether it's learning on the job or attending the training sessions on offer

Describe your role in a nutshell.

I'm a Creative Artworker who works on many briefs including Co-op but also does a lot of motion graphic work for a range of big brands.
